Sam has 2 children and 1 grandson, he joined the Navy in 1975, he then joined Hertfordshire Fire Service in 1989 and served for 25 years. His hobbies are golf, cricket and football. Sam has been an invaluable team member to County Funerals since 2021.
Donna’s journey with County Funerals began with a personal experience when her father passed away. Witnessing our teams compassionate and professional family approach during that challenging time left a lasting impression on her.
Fuelled by the desire to provide the same comforting assistance to others, Donna later applied when a vacancy arose and successfully joining the team. Married and a mother of three her commitment to family extends seamlessly into her work, Donnas genuine passion lies in helping people navigate through difficult times.
Donna runs our Letchworth office arranging funerals and conducts them.
Neil is Grants Brother and has worked in the funeral industry since 2010, where his first job was working alongside Grant. Neil has 4 children. His hobbies, when not spending time with his 3 Granddaughters, is building hot rods, he has built 3 cars from start to finish since the 1980s. Neil has been back working alongside his brother with County Funerals since 2023.
Peter joined County funerals in March 2020. He was recruited by his cousin’s wife Sandra Bellringer, in keeping with the family firm theme.
Peter is married and has 3 children and 3 step children. He is a carpenter/joiner by trade and has worked and lived in South Africa for many years. His interests include rugby, cycling and caravanning, and he has been known to enjoy the odd glass of beer.
Since graduating university in 2008, with a BSc (Hons) in environmental hazards and disaster management Amelia has worked as a funeral arranger, gaining a BTEC qualification in 2012 and has worked all over Hertfordshire throughout her career.
She has a son and daughter, plus a stepdaughter and believes family plays a very important part in anyone’s life. She believes that arranging a funeral isn’t just a way to say goodbye; it is also an opportunity to celebrate their life with the family, and love they all share. Funerals are a deeply personal moment and capturing all a family would want is a special privilege to be part of.
Outside work Amelia part of the A602’s Street and Strip Rod Club in Stevenage and drives a 1949 Chevy.
After finishing school, Lee was an engine and gearbox mechanic. He has been a family friend for over 10 years and he has worked with us for a year and loves wearing a suit to work. Lee is a father of two and Grant is the Godfather to Lee’s youngest son.
As the great-grandson of a funeral director and embalmer Grant has always had an awareness of the industry and the services it delivers and as soon as he had a full driving licence he made his goal to secure employment and training in the trade. He has benefited from training with two industry corporates, but also has experience with smaller independent funeral services. Seeing a need for more individual funeral options Grant set about finding suitable vehicles to use as alternative hearses and in 2011 the Final Cruise Company was formed offering unusual funeral cars for car enthusiasts.
Fast forward to 2017 Grant decided it was time to start his own funeral service known as County Funerals; offering personalised and affordable funerals to families who needed the experience and support he could offer. Now in 2019 his hard work and dedication has come to fruition with the opening of County Funerals first branch in Little Wymondley.
Family is of huge importance to Grant, as a father to 3 children and one of 6 siblings with a vast extended family. He truly understands that family and friends always know their loved ones the best and as such funerals are best planned and organised with extensive input from those closest to the individual.
A very well known and social person, when he is not working Grant loves nothing more than driving his hotrods which include a 1949 Chevy and a 1927 T-bucket. He is an active member of the A602 Street and Strip Rod Club based in Stevenage and can regularly be seen fronting their events with a microphone in hand.
Sandra is a mother of 4 who worked in education for 17 years before joining our team in 2018 as a funeral services operative.
Outside of work Sandra’s hobbies include dancing, hot rods and swimming but most of all she enjoys spending time with her grandchildren.
Jeff is a father of 3 and worked for the London fire brigade for 27 years before joining the funeral service 8 years ago. He has worked as a funeral service operative ever since and completed his funeral director training in 2018.
His hobbies include rugby, motorcycles and magnet fishing.
In 2017 he was awarded London Borough of Enfield volunteers award for services to youth rugby. Plus, he makes a good cup of tea!
Mother to 2 daughters, 4 step children and nannie to 3 grandchildren, Dena loves all things vintage, owns a 1969 Morris Minor and is reading a BSc in Natural Sciences at the Open University.
Dena has varied career experiences, from the corporate banking world to salon owner and then end of life care. 5 yrs ago she made the decision to move into the Funeral industry; training as a funeral services operative for one of the UK’s largest funeral services, and eventually becoming a self-employed funeral director supporting independent funeral services.
Now with County Funerals, she is looking forward to offering personalised and unique funeral services to each and every individual who comes into our care, her view is “Every final tribute should be as unique as the person it represents and County Funerals gives me the opportunity to make this a reality. As an industry we need to open up and modernise. Families and friends know their loved ones better than anyone else and should able to choose to keep things as simple or as dramatic as they wish”.
