Local Funeral Director Services
Direct Cremation
If your loved one has decided to be cremated, it’s important that you know you’re not limited to how you can honour their life. Cremation offers just as many – if not more – options for friends and family to honour and celebrate their loved one’s life.
Holding a funeral or memorial service in a place that held value within their life, whether it be at home or in a chapel are some of the options available for cremation.
Simple Funerals
At County Funerals we offer a less traditional funeral option focused on a simple celebration of life.
Funeral services can be held at a location of your choice rather than in a crematorium or cemetery chapel. Plus you can choose to have a religious service or opt for a non-religious tribute.
Traditional Funerals
County Funerals also offer a full traditional funeral service with all the standard provision you would usually expect at a funeral.
Our prices for traditional services can be made up according to your wishes. We have an itemised table to give you a guide as to what you can expect to pay for such services.
Standardised Price List
Following the Competition and Market Authority’s (CMA) market investigation into the funeral sector, it is compulsory that every funeral director has a Standardised Price List.
The Standardised Price List should enable you to compare funeral directors on a like-for-like basis based on the CMA’s attended funeral service and unattended funeral service specifications. The price list is available on our website and at our branch.
Maybe you would like to organise a traditional send off or perhaps you’d prefer something completely different? Whatever you decide, we believe that people should be able to have the funeral they want. Offering a personal approach to every family, we will listen and advise you honestly whilst explaining all your options in a straightforward way that enables you to make your choices. We do not believe in adding unnecessary extras and will only provide you with the services you need and the services you choose.
It is our privilege to be able to take care of your loved ones when they pass and to guide you through each and every step of the journey”
What to do if a loved one has passed away
We offer a 24-hour telephone service so please contact us immediately on 01438 510355 and we will give you clear advice about what to do next
If someone dies at home
Call the family doctor and the next of kin immediately.
If the death was expected, the doctor will give you a medical certificate showing the cause of death.
They’ll also give you a formal notice saying they’ve signed the medical certificate and telling you how to register the death.
If someone dies in hospital
The hospital will usually issue a medical certificate and formal notice.
The body will usually be kept in the hospital mortuary until either: the family have organised a funeral director to bring them into their care, relatives arrange a chapel of rest, or the relatives arrange for the body to be taken home.
If someone dies unexpectedly
If someone dies unexpectedly, or the family doctor hasn’t seen them in the last 14 days, the death is reported to a coroner.
A coroner is a doctor is who responsible for investigating unexpected deaths. They may call for a post-mortem or an inquest. This may take some time, so the funeral may need to be delayed.
